Labiaplasty

March 7th, 2010

I have been doing labiaplasties for thirty years.  My patients are often confused regarding the methods used and whether laser should be used.  There is the straight line technique where you trim the labia in the outer edge resulting in same shape but much smaller and then there is the wedge shape which leaves a scar across the labia and shortens it but does not narrow it around the vagina.  It also does not address the peripheral pigment that patients always complain about.  Lasers have complications of burns and if comes too close to the bottom of the wedge some sensation and blood supply may be lost.  I prefer after looking at all my cases not to use lasers and do the peripheral trimming rather than the wedge.  It heals better, the pigment is addressed and does the job with less complications and better feel and healing.  Why complicate matters in the most important area of the woman’s body.  I also do not find anything unethical about doing this surgery.  It is a choice for women whether to walk around with flappy labia or feel more comfortable with smaller labia.  It is not different than breast size change or fixing flappy ears.  I hate when everyone tries to evaluate and questions women’s judgment and her right to have what she deems good for herself.

Healthcare disaster thwarted

January 24th, 2010

Well, we almost were on the brink of healthcare rationing.  We were at the edge of a cliff overlooking a huge abyss of nightmares.  This has been halted for a little while but do not be fooled. It will happen.  Healthcare will be rationed within the next three years.  It is a corner stone of Obama’s policy and goal.  By controlling healthcare, he can ration it, he can shift it from old to young and he can control every man’s information and destiny. He can decide that anyone after 65 will not get open heart surgery. He can decide that a baby born with a disease that is too expensive to chronically maintain, will not get the medicine and treatment it needs so it can succumb to the illness and so the cost for that treatment will be cut down and the government spends less.  There will be no alternatives offered. That is the only way Mr. Obama can control spending while expanding. He has made doctors ineffective by keeping high costs for running a practice, high liability insurance and by lowering the reimbursement through medicare cuts-and 20% cut is about to pass in March.  The doctors were the only advocates that people had. They knew what was right or wrong.  With their voice silenced there will be no one to inform or protect. How are the doctors silenced? They will be driven to work for the government hospitals and healthcare facilities as it will be economically not feasible to work for themselves.  The government at the start will offer good salaries better than they can make in private practice with less hassle.  Eventually those salaries will be lowered once all sign up.  Once a doctor works for the government all rules of compliance apply otherwise no job.  So we now must embrace to what is coming down the pike and I hope that each person evaluates the situation for themselves and elects those representatives best suited for each one’s future.

PRP and a youthful skin

December 26th, 2009

The good news that science always comes up with something new. Now we have PRP-a product that comes right of a person’s own blood and is injected either with fat harvested from one’s own fat or on its own. PRP is really plasma concentrate that has increased growth factor in it. Your own growth factor but in concentrated form. It is believed that if injected into the face or body during surgery or even in an office visit it makes the skin much smoother and younger looking. It has been used for about 10 years in orthopedics. When a sports person has a tendon injury, they get injected with PRP and their recovery is speedier and better.  Now we apply same technology to plastic surgery with dramatic results.  We are also working on harvesting stem cells from your own fat and that may help rejenerate some of the fat cells lost in critical areas like wrinkles or deep lines or wrinkled skin.  So tune in to what is new. Call our office for consultation and we can see if you are a candidate for PRP.

Sexy and pouty lips

September 17th, 2009

For a long time women admired full pouty lips. When Brigit Bardot first appeared on the movie screen women started using lip liners and tried to pout their lips like hers. Of course then there were no fillers or fat injections or lip implants to create those wonderful lips.  When Angelina Jolie appeared on the scene then again all went crazy over her lips. Well there is a new lip implant on the market which I have used quite effectively. It is made out of very soft silicone and is inserted into the lip through the mouth. There are No scars as a result of this procedure. The lips look superb as a result. You cannot feel the implant. The size of the lip will be based on the existing size and the size of the implant chosen.

you too can have sexy lips

you too can have sexy lips

Of course if one does not like the look then these implants can be easily removed. Patients love the look, the feel and the simplicity of the procedure. It can be done under local anesthesia with minimal bruising and a great result. Call the office and find out more about it. Of course there is no problem using silicone in the lips. It is worth it.

China welcomes Plastic Surgery

September 10th, 2009

In the June 09 Financial Times there was an article which announced that in China the popularity of plastic surgery has grown by 40%.  Many choose plastic surgery to boost their employment prospects and others spend their extra money on various cosmetic procedures just to achieve what they wish-a larger looking eye through eyelid surgery and breast enlargement or higher bridged nose.  In Shanghai plastic surgery business is booming.  In spite of a bad economic conditions in the world the chinese women are undetered. They believe that looking better leads to better opportunities in the job market or in the romantic markets. The average age is 25 yo to 35 yo, much younger than in the US.   After basic necessities are met such as food, rent, clothing and car, the extra money often goes for plastic surgery. Once plastic surgery was looked down upon, today however, it is something that many want.

Taxing Beauty

July 30th, 2009
transparency

transparency

It is amazing that in order to pay for the unchecked distribution of money for pork and cronies the administration will tax those who would like electrive surgery.  The problem is that elective plastic surgery is 50% of time not elective.  People come in with various pectus deformities of breasts, pectoralis muscle abscense, post weight loss skin laxity, large breast problems with back aches, or just psychologically problematic conditions like inverted nipples, large labia, ears that are very prominent, very stretched out abdominal skin due to multiple pregnancies etc.  On the surface these are frivolous surgeries, however, psychologically these are very necessary.  Will the government be now in charge of what is frivolous and what is necessary? Will the government beurocrats know about you medical problems and keep the information out there to be hacked into? Up till now only insurance cases were documented in cyberspace, but elective plastic surgery was private. Now even your private plastic surgery procedures will be public knowledge as you will have to “tell someone” in government so they can tax you. Women who have inverted nipples or large labia or other private problems which they want to keep private will be quite distraught at having to tell the government officials what they are having done and have that recorded in public records which as we know are not that secure and accessible to many. Soooo****be careful how you vote for all new legislation.  It does not seem that the administration has any sensitivity to your problems or have any concern for your privacy. They believe in transparency on all levels especially yours.

Botox for the unemployed

June 8th, 2009

I read a story in Huffington Post today that getting a botox treatment and removing wrinkles increases your chance of getting a job. Well, since I do the injections I must agree. However, just paralyzing your muscles and getting rid of wrinkles may not be the only reason for this great outcome. The real reason for getting this great job that you want is the fact that after your botox injection you think you look great and therefore you do and so you present a more confident attitude. You believe you are and therefore you are. That is an old saying that is very true. All cosmetic surgery does, is make you look better and, therefore, you feel you look better and therefore you do look better and therefore everyone thinks you look great. I love my job as I make everyone feel good. Now that they feel good things go their way and I feel that I did it. Because I feel I caused it therefore I believe I caused it and therefore everyone thinks I caused it. What a great world we live in.  Free Botox offered for unemployed jobless? try botox

Just gello

May 18th, 2009

The news is that perhaps soon a new silicone gel implant will be out there. It will have a form and shape all of its own. I am not sure if it is good or bad as I rather think that everyone already has a shape and form and the filler is what is missing. It also may be a bit harder than the implants which are already out there and may also have a rough exterior so it may not move as much.  I am not sure whether stationary breasts are so attractive but when it comes out you will be able to judge for yourself if indeed you are interested in implants. Anyway there will be lots of marketing and writing about it. Just wanted you to hear all about it first here.  There will be lots of discussion and everyone will have something to say about this new Gel. To me gello is gello. You must judge for yourself and be a very savvy and inte

Clown smile to happy smile

May 9th, 2009
upturned lip corners

upturned lip corners

As we age the corners of our mouth sometimes turn down. That gives us a very sad look, like a clown.  Sometimes the lipstick runs there as well. Through a very minor procedure under local we can turn the downturn smile into a sexy and happy smile. Sad lips can turn into kissable lips. Stop by to see how that is done and see if you are a candidate.  Of course many other things can be done to lips. They can be shortened, made plumpier, have a nice and visible border roll, a nice cupids bow can be created, and the columella philtrum can be made more prominent. Anything is possible. Just stop by and ask and maybe you are a candidate for those procedures. All those procedures are done under local anesthesia in the treatment room with very uneventful recovery. They are very effective and everyone loves the results.

Green Surgery

Full lips

Full lips

We do not want to pollute the environment.  Everyday however, we do. I therefore feel strongly, that we should use whatever tissue we remove from our body as fillers, or contour substances.  For example-fat can be used to make nasolabial folds fuller, lips plump, buttock round and attractive, breasts larger and upper lip softer.  Pieces of any muscle removed can also be used as fillers in the glabella or nasolabial folds. So do not waste anything. Reuse and do not pollute. You will like using your own stuff rather than waste it and see it discarted in some dump. Come and visit us to ask what is possible.
