Very often patients come in for consultation for breast augmentation. However, they are not sure what size will suit them. Many stuff socks in the bra to see what it will look like. Some wear very heavily padded bras to see how they like the size. Some ask the women they know and whose size they like. Some listen to me and some cannot make up their mind. My advice is always that the size of your breast is important on many levels. First it has to fit your body. It cannot be so big that it will make you look fat with a short waist line or cheap as if the only thing you have going for you is your breasts. One must also consider the exercise schedule that you like to keep. If you are an exercise fanatic then big breasts will stand in your way and it will be hard to do pushups or play tennis, ride a horse or even run. If you do not exercise then that is not a consideration. One must also consider that with age these large breasts may sag requiring a lift which in turn results in scars. If you have a job where you must look business like that is you are a lawyer or work for a large firm in a very senior position your breasts may announce that you are not that smart and only got there because of your sexiness. It probably is not true but those thoughts will circulate and you must know how thick your skin is and what is your tolerance level to ignore or tolerate those inuendos. With very large breasts, forget getting into chanel suits or other high couture dresses. In summary there are many considerations you must consider. If all fails you can try out the scarfs below.
I bet your appliances are younger than you. I wonder why you changed them. I think your car is probably younger than you. What about the paint on your walls or the rugs on the floor. Your computer? furniture, sheets, dishes??? You see, all need maintenance and some are even discarded and new ones brought in. Why? they do not look good any more and they do not work as well as the new ones. Well, we cannot do this to people and ourselves. We cannot throw our old selves out and get new bodies. However, we can REJUVENATE whatever we can. So, we get facelifts, and breastlifts, and breast augmentations for deflated breasts after childbirth and we get tummytucks, we get liposuction, butt lifts, and even labia reduction and vagina tightening. Why-cause that is as close to new as we can get. If we are not embarrassed to do it to our dishwashers and washing machines and cars why are we embarrassed to do it to ourselves? Why we are not embarrassed to paint our walls yet we wonder if we should dye our gray hair? what is the difference between painting our walls which are old and cracking and painting our hair which are old and gray? We fill cracks in our bathtub edges or wood furniture, what about the cracks we see on our bodies? So get out the facial fillers like juviderm, restylene, fat, radiesse and whatever else you can find and fill out the cracks. You iron your sheets, what about ironing your wrinkles with botox or fraxel lasers. You often fix your old plumbing especially if it is loose. Well tighten up the vagina and loose labia and whatever else has loosened up in your body.
You see, our body is a machine that runs for 80-90 years if we are lucky. Surely, nothing else runs that long, and at least nothing else runs that long without maintenance and repair. So be kind to your body just like you are kind to your appliances, and cars and other possessions- MAINTAIN it, polish it, and keep it youthful and happy.
When a person is stressed one sees it in their face. The frown lines come out and the forehead starts to crinkle. The circles around the eyes become darker and the puffs under eyes become more noticeable. The face looks more drawn and the complexion becomes uneven. Some people even breakout in pimples. If this is what is happening to you then you let others see your insecurity and worry. When you go to interview for a job you look anxious. When you are on a date you look older and less fun. The freshness seems to be gone. It is very important not to allow oneself to get to that state. It does not always mean doing surgery. However, surgery does help. For example fixing the puffs of the lower eyelids is a simple procedure and wallah you look so much more rested. It only takes 1/2 hr and few days hiding behind dark sunglasses. Alternatively one can get Botox injections to the lower eyelids to at least take some of the crinkles away. Same is true of the frown lines and forehead lines. As far as the complexion well-maybe a Fraxel treatment may help or at least a good regimen of skin care. However, we must not neglect those deep furrows running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. They look like troughs full of sorrow and anxiety. Those can be flattened by various injectable like Restylene, Radiesse, or Juviderm plus. They can also be filled with Alloderm or your own fat. Whatever, you prefer. However, you must upkeep. People fix their kitchens, paint their apartments and upkeep their appliances. You are probably older than your dishwasher. So how about some maintenance? Call our office and speak with Anita. It is amazing what you can learn.
Since airing a segment on TV many inquiries are coming in about gynecomastia or male breasts. Gynecomastia can start at puberty without known cause. It can start later in life if one uses steroids, or certain diuretics or uses marijuana. Some develop it after massive weight gain. If there is no underlying cause for it which can be eliminated by other stopping the drugs that cause it or the hormonal imbalance that may cause it then the only option is to remove it surgically. What procedure is used depends on the severity of the condition. If the gynecomastia consists of just fat in a young person with elastic skin then one can just suction with good results. If the gynecomastia in a young person with good skin tone has a bit of breast tissue it may need to be excised at the same surgery as the suction procedure. The scar can be well hidden in the areola border. If the person is older and the skin is quite stretched out and has been for a while then skin excision must accompany the removal of the breast tissue and that leaves scars that unless the person has lots of hair on the chest may not be so attractive and one may need to consider what is better for that person. Scars which are quite noticeable or the gynecomastia skin remaining as a fold after the contensts are removed. The removal of the breast tissue and fat will make the fold smaller but the fold will remain unless removed. Not unlike breast reduction in women. It is of note that breast tissue of a male must also be sent to pathology. Males can also develop cancer of the breast altho the incidence of that is much smaller than in females. The surgery itself is an outpatient procedure done with sedation and local anesthesia. After the procedure the patient wears a snug velcro vest to keep pressure on the area. The sutures often dissolve by themselves. Bruising occurs for about 1-2 weeks depending on the person and the extent of the surgery. A person should refrain from vigorous activity like exercise or heavy lifting for about 6 weeks. The pain postoperatively is minimal and is easily managed with oral pain pills. Antibiotics are usually given prophylactically. If the skin envelope is not extensive the gynecomastia surgery results in few scars and the patient is usually extremely happy. If one has a severe case of skin redundancy then the scars postoperatively must be considered. One does not want to remove one embarrassing condition and substitute for another. Best done at a younger age to avoid the unnecessary scars as then the skin still has a nice elasticity which will help in shrinking down the skin after the breast tissue and fat removal.
Many women do plastic surgery. The question one must ask is whether they do it to please themselves or the significant other. Will you put in implants if your preset partner likes big breasts and will you take them out if your next partner likes small breasts. The most important thing, I have learned, is that plastic surgery should be a gift to you. You must feel great about yourself and how you look. If you like yourself then most likely the partner you love will love you for who you are how you look and will share same values. If you always do things for others then they will never value you as you do not value yourself. Body image is very important and very personal. It is what helps us have confidence and pursue our career and goals and relationships. Our body image should be good as then we are happy. If our body image is not good we must improve it if there is a reason why it is not good. We should strive to look like what WE like and not what someone else tells us to look like. If we compromise we loose ourselves. It is fun to be individualistic and look as best as we can for ourselves alone.
Women often judge each other on their looks, their dress, their home, their weight. Envy and competition is quite common. Women are much tougher on each other than men are. You may have visited a plastic surgeon to have a small procedure. A man may not notice, another woman always will. Women can almost sniff changes in each other and often compete with each other in maintaining their looks. Therefore, one must go to a plastic surgeon who understands all that. Any change must be very suttle so even the other woman will not notice. It must fit your face and body and blend in well. Yet, it must raise eyebrows and comments like -you look great- have you done anything lately? Thus leaving it up to your discretion if you want to say something. Yet you must take care to look good to yourself. Feeling great about your body not only builds confidence but also increases libido. Women and libido is very tricky problem. Most however, is tied into how a woman feels about herself. As the years go by, maintenance is necessary. No machine runs for 80 years without repairs and maintenance. Therefore, one must lift, tuck and polish whatever ages and sags. It is just part of good upkeep. If one does it in small doses over time one will never look overdone. Look at Sophia Loren. You will forever guess what has she done. But you know she must have done something to look as good as she does at the age of 75 yo. You can too look great if you choose the right procedures with the right Plastic Surgeon. Your quality of life depends on it.
Lately many people have been under tremendous stress. One sees it in their faces and on their skin. Many women come in with very blotchy skin, with more age spots and pigmentation changes. Many have more wrinkles because of involuntary teeth clenching or frowning due to stress. Many have dry skin and darker circles under their eyes. Many just look drawn and tired. At times like these just a mere lipstick will not do the trick. It is good to see someone who can evaluate your skin and perhaps give you the appropriate cream, or do the appropriate treatment which will improve the aging looking skin. In my office today we do much more skin care than ever before, because people are stressed more than ever before. Even if people have a facelift, the skin itself needs additional care. The care though must be appropriate for that person. Therefore, one must see a professional before spending money on stuff that does not work and may cause more breakouts. Fraxel which is a noninvasive laser treatment is very good for many people, but some may even want the CO2 fraxel laser which has more downtime but is very effective in skin tightening and getting rid of unwanted blemishes. It would be good to get evaluated and treated. Many fillers are also helpful if given in appropriate amounts in the appropriate places. One must know what filler will be best for the patient as all are different. So not everything out there is for everyone and not everyone is for all that is out there. Professional evaluation of your skin is very important. So come in and reduce the evidence of stress. It may make you more attractive and relaxed looking if you must look for the position you want.
Even though the economy is down and we are confused as to what will be and when things will get better, I believe that looking your best still is a real pick me up. Perhaps, being out for an elective surgery is not the time, fraxel or botox treatments have no downtime and might just brighten your day. When you want to keep your job, or find a new one you should always look your best. It is simple with all the new injectables and lasers to accomplish that. Of course the right exercise and diet is important as the hair and dress. However, people always like to have people who look good and take care of themselves working for them or with them. So see what you can do to enhance yourself and make yourself attractive in this difficult time. Perhaps a small treatment make give you the extra confidence to go and ask for the position and perhaps get it. Whatever works.
