Fat Grafting to Shape and Lift Your Buttock

July 30th, 2010

I have to say that we can do so much with the lipoaspirate we remove during liposuction.  Liposuction is a great way of slimming and shaping the body, but what about the fat removed.  To bolster the derriere, we can put this fat back into the areas you want it to better shape and lift your rear.

Many women have a square rear or a V shaped rear.  The prettiest shapes for the buttock is a round shape or an A shape.  Well we can make that happen if we can remove enough fat from the places we do not want it.  Worth asking about anyhow.

The Truth about Liposuction-Does the Fat Go Elsewhere

July 22nd, 2010

I have been asked so many times by patients and friends whether the fat you remove from liposuction goes somewhere else on your body.  What they mean is, if your thighs get thinner, does your tummy get bigger.  So why the confusion.

When you remove fat during liposuction, that fat is thrown away or sent to pathology, but it is GONE.  That means that your thighs now have fewer fat cells then they had before.  So when you gain weight, there is fewer cells in your thighs to get bigger but you still have all the fat cells in your tummy.  So if you gain weight after liposuction, the areas you did not suction will get fatter then the areas you did.  So if you always gained weight in your lower half, and then you do liposuction, now if you gain weight your upper half will get bigger in proportion.

Hope this clears things up.

Short Scar Breast Reduction

July 15th, 2010

Breast reduction is a very common plastic surgical procedure and patients are extremely happy.  After years of carrying excessive weight around, feeling self conscious in almost everything and never being able to wear a sundress, having a breast reduction really can change your life.  Even though patients are happy, the scars can sometimes be less then ideal.

Now we can offer a short scar breast reduction for patients who are candidates.  This gives often better results, perkier breasts, without the large incision under the breast.  This incision is usually the one that bothers the patients the most.  I really feel that for many patients this is a better choice then the traditional anchor scar incision.

Is your doctor board certified?

your health is important

your health is important

Your health is very important. Whether you do cosmetic surgery like facelifts, breast surgery, liposuction, abdominoplasty or labiaplasty or even botox injections, or skin fillers, or fat injections, or laser treatments, if done by unqualified doctors, the complications are many and some cannot be fixed. You must chose the right qualified doctor to perform your procedure.  Surfing the internet alone will not sometimes give you the truth as the internet is not checked for accuracy.  It is like a giant yellow pages.  You must be sure your doctor is trained and qualified  by checking their board certification directly from the board office for that specialty. Do not take the chance on your health or quality of life.

Real or Fake-Beware who your treating doctor is

April 4th, 2010

Many people see a name of a doctor on the internet and they go to see him/her for treatment because his prices might be cheaper or his location more convenient. You must be aware that what you read on the internet is not checked so anyone can present themselves as an expert to lure you into their office.  Some may not be qualified to perform the treatment you require. A white coat is deceiving. Anyone can buy one. Diplomas are also deceiving, anyone can get a fake one. Yet many believe that if one has a white coat and a diploma they are qualified.  These “doctors” may be as much a scam as the plumber, or builder or banker. Lately I have seen many complications as a result of nondoctors doing medicine. So check with the board about the qualifications of the doctor you are seeing and see if indeed this doctor is who he/she tell you they are. Just advice and warning, nothing more.

Proposed healthcare

March 21st, 2010

It is depressing how Obama administration is pushing on us a system which sounds good in theory but which is really a disaster in the making.  This proposal will lead to most money going for administrative costs and with what left the hospitals will be dirty and riddled with infections as there will be no money for maintenance. The equipment and technology will become inferior as there will be no money to bring the newest technology to the public.  The elderly will have rationed care and all the people will be paying with high taxes for phantom healthcare.  The doctors whose private practice will be nonexistent due to low pay and high malpractice costs will be practicing in these public hospitals without incentives and so mediocre medicine is coming. All over the world people dreamt of coming to be treated in america. Now the system will be like in any other country and so coming here will no longer be the dream.  It is amazing how people came here escaping their own country’s bad conditions only to vote them in in this country. So I am glad that I am practicing elective plastic surgery where it will be the only place where patients will have choices and enjoy their God given freedom.

sexy lips

March 18th, 2010

Stop by my office and checkout the wonderful new small implants that can be inserted into your lips to make them absolutely sexy and pouty. No more painful injections and then waiting for swelling to go down. No more lumps and bumps.  It is very natural and no one can feel the implant. It is easily removed should one not like it. I have not had anyone so far not liking it. So check it out.

Labiaplasty

March 7th, 2010

I have been doing labiaplasties for thirty years.  My patients are often confused regarding the methods used and whether laser should be used.  There is the straight line technique where you trim the labia in the outer edge resulting in same shape but much smaller and then there is the wedge shape which leaves a scar across the labia and shortens it but does not narrow it around the vagina.  It also does not address the peripheral pigment that patients always complain about.  Lasers have complications of burns and if comes too close to the bottom of the wedge some sensation and blood supply may be lost.  I prefer after looking at all my cases not to use lasers and do the peripheral trimming rather than the wedge.  It heals better, the pigment is addressed and does the job with less complications and better feel and healing.  Why complicate matters in the most important area of the woman’s body.  I also do not find anything unethical about doing this surgery.  It is a choice for women whether to walk around with flappy labia or feel more comfortable with smaller labia.  It is not different than breast size change or fixing flappy ears.  I hate when everyone tries to evaluate and questions women’s judgment and her right to have what she deems good for herself.

Healthcare disaster thwarted

January 24th, 2010

Well, we almost were on the brink of healthcare rationing.  We were at the edge of a cliff overlooking a huge abyss of nightmares.  This has been halted for a little while but do not be fooled. It will happen.  Healthcare will be rationed within the next three years.  It is a corner stone of Obama’s policy and goal.  By controlling healthcare, he can ration it, he can shift it from old to young and he can control every man’s information and destiny. He can decide that anyone after 65 will not get open heart surgery. He can decide that a baby born with a disease that is too expensive to chronically maintain, will not get the medicine and treatment it needs so it can succumb to the illness and so the cost for that treatment will be cut down and the government spends less.  There will be no alternatives offered. That is the only way Mr. Obama can control spending while expanding. He has made doctors ineffective by keeping high costs for running a practice, high liability insurance and by lowering the reimbursement through medicare cuts-and 20% cut is about to pass in March.  The doctors were the only advocates that people had. They knew what was right or wrong.  With their voice silenced there will be no one to inform or protect. How are the doctors silenced? They will be driven to work for the government hospitals and healthcare facilities as it will be economically not feasible to work for themselves.  The government at the start will offer good salaries better than they can make in private practice with less hassle.  Eventually those salaries will be lowered once all sign up.  Once a doctor works for the government all rules of compliance apply otherwise no job.  So we now must embrace to what is coming down the pike and I hope that each person evaluates the situation for themselves and elects those representatives best suited for each one’s future.

PRP and a youthful skin

December 26th, 2009

The good news that science always comes up with something new. Now we have PRP-a product that comes right of a person’s own blood and is injected either with fat harvested from one’s own fat or on its own. PRP is really plasma concentrate that has increased growth factor in it. Your own growth factor but in concentrated form. It is believed that if injected into the face or body during surgery or even in an office visit it makes the skin much smoother and younger looking. It has been used for about 10 years in orthopedics. When a sports person has a tendon injury, they get injected with PRP and their recovery is speedier and better.  Now we apply same technology to plastic surgery with dramatic results.  We are also working on harvesting stem cells from your own fat and that may help rejenerate some of the fat cells lost in critical areas like wrinkles or deep lines or wrinkled skin.  So tune in to what is new. Call our office for consultation and we can see if you are a candidate for PRP.
