Is your doctor board certified?

your health is important

your health is important

Your health is very important. Whether you do cosmetic surgery like facelifts, breast surgery, liposuction, abdominoplasty or labiaplasty or even botox injections, or skin fillers, or fat injections, or laser treatments, if done by unqualified doctors, the complications are many and some cannot be fixed. You must chose the right qualified doctor to perform your procedure.  Surfing the internet alone will not sometimes give you the truth as the internet is not checked for accuracy.  It is like a giant yellow pages.  You must be sure your doctor is trained and qualified  by checking their board certification directly from the board office for that specialty. Do not take the chance on your health or quality of life.

Labiaplasty

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I have been doing labiaplasties for thirty years.  My patients are often confused regarding the methods used and whether laser should be used.  There is the straight line technique where you trim the labia in the outer edge resulting in same shape but much smaller and then there is the wedge shape which leaves a scar across the labia and shortens it but does not narrow it around the vagina.  It also does not address the peripheral pigment that patients always complain about.  Lasers have complications of burns and if comes too close to the bottom of the wedge some sensation and blood supply may be lost.  I prefer after looking at all my cases not to use lasers and do the peripheral trimming rather than the wedge.  It heals better, the pigment is addressed and does the job with less complications and better feel and healing.  Why complicate matters in the most important area of the woman’s body.  I also do not find anything unethical about doing this surgery.  It is a choice for women whether to walk around with flappy labia or feel more comfortable with smaller labia.  It is not different than breast size change or fixing flappy ears.  I hate when everyone tries to evaluate and questions women’s judgment and her right to have what she deems good for herself.
