Is your doctor board certified?

your health is important

your health is important

Your health is very important. Whether you do cosmetic surgery like facelifts, breast surgery, liposuction, abdominoplasty or labiaplasty or even botox injections, or skin fillers, or fat injections, or laser treatments, if done by unqualified doctors, the complications are many and some cannot be fixed. You must chose the right qualified doctor to perform your procedure.  Surfing the internet alone will not sometimes give you the truth as the internet is not checked for accuracy.  It is like a giant yellow pages.  You must be sure your doctor is trained and qualified  by checking their board certification directly from the board office for that specialty. Do not take the chance on your health or quality of life.

Botox for the unemployed

Monday, June 8th, 2009

I read a story in Huffington Post today that getting a botox treatment and removing wrinkles increases your chance of getting a job. Well, since I do the injections I must agree. However, just paralyzing your muscles and getting rid of wrinkles may not be the only reason for this great outcome. The real reason for getting this great job that you want is the fact that after your botox injection you think you look great and therefore you do and so you present a more confident attitude. You believe you are and therefore you are. That is an old saying that is very true. All cosmetic surgery does, is make you look better and, therefore, you feel you look better and therefore you do look better and therefore everyone thinks you look great. I love my job as I make everyone feel good. Now that they feel good things go their way and I feel that I did it. Because I feel I caused it therefore I believe I caused it and therefore everyone thinks I caused it. What a great world we live in.  Free Botox offered for unemployed jobless? try botox

Facial bony structures and Youth

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

As we age not only does the skin becomes less elastic and thin, but our bony skeleton also becomes thinner and smaller. The fat “baby fat” disappears and it all results in hanging empty skin with less architectural aesthetics. The atrophy of the fat is addressed with fillers.  The skin thinness and lack of elasticity is addressed with various lifts whether face lift, abdominoplasty, breast lift or mons pubis lift.  Some require arm lifts, and thigh lifts as well.  In some areas the fat disappears more than others. For example how often we hear people say-”if I loose enough weight for my thighs to be thin my face becomes too gaunt”.. Therefore often we do liposuction on the thighs which stubbornly hold on to fat while our face looses it very quickly.  So now what about the shrinking skeleton. We all know that with age we get shorter. However, we also know that even tho we look better after a facelift the area around the mouth rarely improves. ASK DR. STEPHEN COLEN who is trained as a dentist as well as a plastic surgeon. He will be the firtst one to tell you that in order for the area around the mouth to improve very often one may need to do onlay grafts to fill out the bone area under the upper lip so that the lip will not hang like a curtain with pleats.  Only grafts could also be put under the base of the nasal vestibule so that the nose will not look too long and hooked as our face shrinks.  Often we hear people say -”she is so photogenic”. This is often said about models or actresses.  They usually have in common a squere and strong bone structure which we loose as we get older.  So there are many ways to look younger besides just lifts, skin fillers and botox.  ONLAY grafts can also be very necessary.

Michelle Obama’s arms

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Finally we have someone who takes pride in showing her body. Michelle is confident and, therefore, showing her arms is not a big deal. Her confidence obviously is so strong that no one even dares to criticize what she does. Her husband who is the most powerful man in the world and quite the looker himself adores her. Why does he adore her?? For the same reason that everyone adores her. It is her confidence in herself that makes him respect her as he beams with pride everytime she is around. Sooo- what does that tell you. Your self confidence is very important. How you feel about yourself is the key. Your feeling about yourself says tons and communicates to all whether you are great, just so and so or a true failure to be dismissed. So you must boost your confidence and pride in yourself whatever it takes. Diet, exercise, a new lipstick and makeup or haircu or a bit of fillers, botox, latisse to bat those long eyelashes, fraxel for good skin, lipo for skinny arms, or a tuck here and there. Vaginal tightening anyone, or labiaplasty for great confident sex life?????? Your self confidence will boost your relationship, get you a job or keep you on the job. You are what you think you are and not what they say you are.

Mother Daughter-How we change

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

The aging of our skin and facial structures is most noticed when one looks at a mother and her daughter. The fullness under the brows which represents youth is gone. The fat in that area becomes atrophic. The area of the upper lip becomes thinner and the upper lip looks like a hanging washed out curtain. The fullness of the lips changes, as the lips become thinner and loose that wonderful roll at the border with the skin. The cheeks become more drawn and the skin of the neck becomes wrinkled in need of ironing. Our complexion becomes muddier and our nose becomes pointier and longer looking. The eyelids get folds which cover our eyelasher and the lower eyelids make us look like we never sleep. To regain some of that younger look, one needs fillers to replace some of the plumpness (baby fat look). Some people use fat injections and some use fillers and some use more permanent implants like alloderm. The fillers help with the lip borders so lipstic does not run into the small wrinkles and with the nasolabial folds which become much more deep. They help to restore cheek prominence and upper brow fullness. We use Botox to iron our skin, especially in the glabella above our nose. We can use it to iron the wrinkles around the lower lids, and corners of our mouth. We use it at the bottom of our columella to raise the nasal tip. Platysma neck bands also can be injected making for a much more youthfull neck. We use fraxel and good skin care to improve complexion and tighten skin. We can make ourselves much better looking with simple procedures. Look at the video on the website about the fillers and how it transformed one of our patients without major surgery. We will be delighted to examine you and see what will help.

Look Great at any age

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

To look like this at 43yo you must take good care of your body. Good nutrition, exercise and great skin care is of utmost importance. Of course at times Plastic Surgery must be done to achieve such a wonderful body. Not everyone is lucky to have that metabolism or that physique. However, for those who have hefty hips and thighs and would like that leaner look, liposuction is an option. Those who would like to have shapely and sexy breasts there are procedures that can accomplish that too.  Breast implants increase size, breast lift allows the breasts to look perky and if one is over endowed a breast reduction will lift and downsize to a more attractive and proportional size. Those that have children and are unable to reduce their tummy skin or tighten their tummy muscles even with vigorous physical activity, help is also available. A tummytuck can reduce skin and/or tighten muscle to create a sixpack. Liposuction alone can reduce fat from the abdominal area if the skin and muscle are in good shape. The mons pubis can be lifted through a small suprapubic incision and that may improve sex life as well. The neck and face and eyes are youthful till about 40 when depending on your skin, bone structure, weight fluctuations and genetics jowls begin to form as well as folds and bags around the eyes. Eyelidplasty and a facelift are great options for those who feel that they look older than they feel. Of course rhinoplasty enhances the shape of a nose and otoplasty makes your ears sexy and sensuous. These are just suggestions for some of the surgical procedures. However, options which are not surgical are also available and popular. Fraxel and other laser treatments tighten the skin and get rid of skin blemishes and irregularities. Dermabrasions, microdermabrasions and chemical peels are helpful. Great skin care regimen is the mainstay of great complexion. In our office I leave that to Anita our Nurse Practicioner who is a genius when it comes to skin treatments and cosmetic enhancements with the right stuff. Fillers are great in combination of various small implants like chin and cheek implants or alloderm to nasolabial folds. Do not forget botox however, the greatest thing for frown lines and other furrows created by muscle movements. Injected in right quantities in the right spots makes you younger looking and fresh. Too bad it does not last forever, but then neither do we. Even though not suggested in the picture, ladies -do not forget vaginal and labial surgery for those who feel loose and droopy. Help is simple, effective and it works. Libidos arise! So if you are interested in looking good, call us for a consultation and tell us what it is that you would like, what your budget is and we can then taylor treatment to achieving what you would like improve and what you would like to have.

Your appliances and You

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

I bet your appliances are younger than you. I wonder why you changed them. I think your car is probably younger than you. What about the paint on your walls or the rugs on the floor. Your computer? furniture, sheets, dishes??? You see, all need maintenance and some are even discarded and new ones brought in. Why? they do not look good any more and they do not work as well as the new ones. Well, we cannot do this to people and ourselves. We cannot throw our old selves out and get new bodies. However, we can REJUVENATE whatever we can. So, we get facelifts, and breastlifts, and breast augmentations for deflated breasts after childbirth and we get tummytucks, we get liposuction, butt lifts, and even labia reduction and vagina tightening.  Why-cause that is as close to new as we can get. If we are not embarrassed to do it to our dishwashers and washing machines and cars why are we embarrassed to do it to ourselves? Why we are not embarrassed to paint our walls yet we wonder if we should dye our gray hair? what is the difference between painting our walls which are old and cracking and painting our hair which are old and gray? We fill cracks in our bathtub edges or wood furniture, what about the cracks we see on our bodies? So get out the facial fillers like juviderm, restylene, fat, radiesse and whatever else you can find and fill out the cracks. You iron your sheets, what about ironing your wrinkles with botox or fraxel lasers. You often fix your old plumbing especially if it is loose. Well tighten up the vagina and loose labia and whatever else has loosened up in your body.

You see, our body is a machine that runs for 80-90 years if we are lucky. Surely, nothing else runs that long, and at least nothing else runs that long without maintenance and repair. So be kind to your body just like you are kind to your appliances, and cars and other possessions- MAINTAIN it, polish it, and keep it youthful and happy.

Stress and your face

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

When a person is stressed one sees it in their face. The frown lines come out and the forehead starts to crinkle. The circles around the eyes become darker and the puffs under eyes become more noticeable. The face looks more drawn and the complexion becomes uneven. Some people even breakout in pimples. If this is what is happening to you then you let others see your insecurity and worry. When you go to interview for a job you look anxious. When you are on a date you look older and less fun. The freshness seems to be gone. It is very important not to allow oneself to get to that state. It does not always mean doing surgery. However, surgery does help. For example fixing the puffs of the lower eyelids is a simple procedure and wallah you look so much more rested. It only takes 1/2 hr and few days hiding behind dark sunglasses. Alternatively one can get Botox injections to the lower eyelids to at least take some of the crinkles away. Same is true of the frown lines and forehead lines. As far as the complexion well-maybe a Fraxel treatment may help or at least a good regimen of skin care. However, we must not neglect those deep furrows running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. They look like troughs full of sorrow and anxiety. Those can be flattened by various injectable like Restylene, Radiesse, or Juviderm plus. They can also be filled with Alloderm or your own fat. Whatever, you prefer. However, you must upkeep. People fix their kitchens, paint their apartments and upkeep their appliances. You are probably older than your dishwasher. So how about some maintenance? Call our office and speak with Anita. It is amazing what you can learn.

Economy and our looks

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Even though the economy is down and we are confused as to what will be and when things will get better, I believe that looking your best still is a real pick me up. Perhaps, being out for an elective surgery is not the time, fraxel or botox treatments have no downtime and might just brighten your day. When you want to keep your job, or find a new one you should always look your best. It is simple with all the new injectables and lasers to accomplish that. Of course the right exercise and diet is important as the hair and dress. However, people always like to have people who look good and take care of themselves working for them or with them. So see what you can do to enhance yourself and make yourself attractive in this difficult time. Perhaps a small treatment make give you the extra confidence to go and ask for the position and perhaps get it. Whatever works.
