Following Breast Augmentation the scar around the areolar of the nipple can become indented and create a deformity at rest and when the patient flexes her chest muscles. A successful cure for this problem has always been difficult until recently. The use of acellular dermal matrix has made this problem completely correctable. A piece of this acelular dermal matrix, either Belladerm or Stratice, is placed under the indented scar in a 15 minute procedure under local anesthesia. I prefer to use Belladerm because it is derived from human skin not pig skin. Recovery is short and the results have been uniformly successful. Indented scars following Breast Augmentation is now completely correctable by this technique.
